Aging and Diaspora between Italy and Tunisia: Italian Retired People Living in Hammamet

Collective participatory meeting to discuss fieldwork findings with the retired Italian people in Hammamet.

Description

Within the framework of TAIA, the research fellow Gloria Frisone has completed two months of fieldwork among Italian retired people living in Hammamet. During the ethnographic research, she tried to grasp their habits, lifestyles, expectations, projects, and residential strategies within the migratory path.
Upon the conclusion of the fieldwork, Gloria Frisone proposed a collective participatory restitution meeting and focus group, a platform where she could present a comprehensive summary of the initial research findings. The aim was to foster a collaborative environment where the diverse perspectives on the experiences and models of aging of pensioners involved in the Italian diaspora in Tunisia could be integrated into a cohesive synthesis.
The meeting was held on 25 May at 5 pm (6 pm Italian time) and was hosted at the EMIRA Hotel, the headquarters of the ‘Italians of Tunisia’ Association.
