Biography

Yassin Dia is a postdoctoral researcher in the two-year PRIN project "Transnational Aging between Italy and Africa: Anthropological Perspectives" (TAIA). Her research focuses on the ageing of Senegalese migrants in Italy and Italian migrants in Senegal. She is also completing a PhD in "Cultural and Social Anthropology" at the University of Milano-Bicocca (2021-2024). She is currently working on Senegalese migration to Italy and the role of Islam in the mobility trajectories of elder migrants. Between 2022 and 2023, she conducted a multi-sited ethnography between Milan (Italy), Rufisque, Dakar and Touba (Senegal). Since 2020, she has been a researcher at FIERI (Forum of International and European Research on Immigration), a research institute based in Turin (Italy). At FIERI, she received a scholarship (MIGRICERCA) in 2020, which was financially supported by the US Consulate in Milan. Since 2021, she has been working on national and international projects related to mobility, discrimination, and racism.
