Description of the event
The PRIN PNRR TAIA project will host its final international conference on 8-9 September at the University of Pavia’s Department of Political and Social Sciences. This event will share ethnographic findings from the past two years by researchers from Pavia, Milan-Bicocca, and Bologna. Open to students, it offers a platform for discussing topics such as migration, transnational aging, welfare, and care in different African contexts, as well as among the African diasporas in Italy and other European countries. The event encourages dialogue among scholars, students, and the broader public to develop innovative solutions to the challenges faced by older people across social, gender, and migration contexts.
The conference will also feature anthropologist Cati Coe, a Canadian Research Chair in Migration and Care and a Professor of Political Science at Carleton University. As a recognised expert in transnational family, aging, urban migration, and care, she will deliver a keynote entitled “Aging and Migration Studies: What Each Can Contribute”.
